What an amazing day for soccer!
Kids rolled up to the house around 7:45 in the morning anxious to head to the first soccer tournament of 2012. After picking up the rest of the players, we headed to Charlotte United Christian Academy. Upon arrival, there were so many new faces filled with excitement! I was probably the most shocked, being that I had not been to a tournament since September. Kids put on their gear and began to kick around, while the coaches got together and called all participants in under the pavilion to get things started!
We split up into two groups, younger and older kids, and played a round robin tournament for the morning. Soccer was fantastic and many kids excelled in performance and attitude unlike I’ve seen before.
And then we headed up to the pavilion for ministry time with our special guest, my friend from Portland, Chris Donald. Christ quickly got things going by getting many kids involved in a skit about David and Goliath.
It was fun and funny all at once and communicated well the message of Identity that Chris so powerfully carries. We then proceded to act out the story of Peter and the crippled beggar. This too was another version of a story depicting how powerful it is when we truly understand our identity and position in Christ.
And then Chris encouraged the kdis that because they are one with Christ and they have the Holy Spirit residing in them, they too can live supernatural lives that are a full expression of God’s love to this world. Many kids responded to God’s invitation to step into His world and reality and have Christ inhabit their lives. It was amazing! And to end the great morning, we enjoyed wonderful food provided by our friend, Edson.
